Șirul de scrisori SOS a avut o semnificație clară de peste 100 de ani: este trimis să solicite ajutor în caz de urgență. Dar ce înseamnă de fapt semnalul de urgență? Îl explicăm în acest sfat practic.
Înțelesul deplin - ce înseamnă SOS?
Originea semnalului de urgență se află în industria navală germană la începutul secolului XX. Contrar credinței populare, cele trei litere nu sunt o prescurtare.
- În schimb, „SOS” este un cod Morse care era folosit în comunicațiile radio între nave. Codul Morse din spatele celor trei litere (de trei ori mai scurt, de trei ori lung, de trei ori mai scurt) a fost atât de concis încât a putut fi recunoscut și de oameni necalificați.
- Dacă o navă ar fi în suferință, ar putea trimite semnalul SOS pentru a solicita altor nave să înceteze transmiterea. Odată făcut acest lucru, mai multe informații despre urgență au fost trimise tuturor navelor din zonă.
- O concepție greșită este că „SOS” este scurt pentru „a ne salva sufletele”. Acest sens a fost sugerat ulterior.
- Șirul de scrisori este încă utilizat la nivel internațional pentru a marca telefoane de urgență, aburi de viață și altele asemenea.
